Attending an assessment
After you have completed our online referral form, we will be in touch to arrange a phone assessment at a time that is convenient for you. If you would prefer not to complete an online referral, then you can give our team a call and we will take all the details over the phone and book you an assessment. Our assessments can take up to 90 minutes so it is worth making sure you have plenty of time and that you are somewhere private so you can talk openly. Alternatively, you may want someone with you to help explain the problems you have been experiencing, or to offer support.
Our assessors will ask about your drink or drug use, and about your life in general so they can understand the problem fully. There are set questions they must ask everybody. You can ask about the topics they will cover at the beginning, so you know what to expect. Whatever you tell the assessor is confidential, which means your information cannot be passed about without your knowledge or consent. But there are some professionals we will always need to share some details with, such as your doctor. Your assessor will explain all this to you in advance, so you can be confident about how your information will be kept safe.
After your assessment, you will be given an appointment with a nurse for a discussion about your health and wellbeing. You will also be allocated to a recovery worker who will contact you to arrange your first support session.
