This milestone represents:

  • Getting people tested early
  • Timely access to effective treatment that really works
  • Everyone working together – Horizons staff, our National Hep C Coordinator Debbie Moores, NHS Hepatology nurses and the wonderful Hepatitis C Trust, who together with support from North Yorkshire Public Health team, the ODN and Gilead sciences have worked tirelessly and passionately to identify clients at risk, test them and treat them so that Hepatitis C is micro eliminated.
  • Improved health outcomes and reduced transmission across North Yorkshire, building a healthier future for the county.

North Yorkshire Horizons Area Manager Nicky Booth said “ I am so proud of the North Yorkshire Horizons team’s work to eliminate Hepatitis C across our community. North Yorkshire is a vast and geographically challenging county, and this has been a complex journey that has seen multiple providers coming together, meaning fewer infections and healthier futures for us all. This shows Hepatitis C can be beaten when we work collaboratively to deliver the very best for the individuals we support and work with. “

National Hep C Coordinator Debbie Moores says: “I am delighted that NYH have achieved micro elimination of Hep C within the service.

Well done to the team who have worked really hard and thanks to everyone involved for ensuring NYH is a safer place to be”
