Naomi’s volunteering efforts win her prestigious award
Naomi Ross-Gower who runs SMART recovery Groups in the evenings in the Harrogate hub of North Yorkshire Horizons has won a special award for her volunteering efforts.
Naomi, who has now got a job with the service, won the Best New Volunteer Award at the Harrogate and District Volunteer Oscars.
Naomi’s groups provide vital recovery support for people unable to access our services through the day. She has also facilitated walking groups, check-in groups and recovery advocacy for the peopel who use our service
Naomi had been nominated for an award alongside her Horizons volunteer colleague Zoe Smith, who was up for community volunteer of the year.
Stephen Flood, Volunteer and Peer Mentor Coordinator at North Yorkshire Horizons said: “Both women have made an outstanding contribution to their local communities and our services.
“We are very proud to see them both recognised for their hard work. Our volunteers undertake all manner of roles in our efforts to help people build better lives, they help us to deliver vital recovery support across the county.”
And he added: “It is great when people get the recognition they deserve, so we were thrilled to hear that not one but two of our volunteers had been nominated in the volunteer awards for Harrogate and surrounding boroughs.”
